Preservation
The Loom recognized the end of the very humanity they came to be for, and they gave everything they had to save everyone they could. With the aid of the most powerful among them, the Loom was able to hold the freeze back from a single continent: Tharenloch. A devastating age of ice descended upon humanity. Temperatures plummeted, civilization faltered, and entire populations faced extinction as the world succumbed to an unrelenting freeze. It was during humanity's darkest hour that the Loom emerged, determined to save those the world had forsaken.

The Final Stand
As strong and determined as the Loom was, they couldn't fend off the end of days forever - not without great cost. With their great passion for humanity, the Loom narrowed their power to a single city, where a great sphere was placed protectively around it, a magical shield from the destruction devouring the world.

Organic Suppression
An illness arose: Organic and Variant magic. Those born with magic not granted by the Loom were deemed to be afflicted by a terminal illness, one that would be combatted by a treatment plan of a daily potion regime, said to extend their lives to up for 40 years old. Said to. There is nothing deadly about their magic - for an unknown reason, the Loom has deemed them dangerous enough to poison them under the guise of help.

Liberation of Organics
Not long after the treatment plan began, a secret rebellion formed: the Unwound, operating out of the shadows and saving as many Organic mages from the treatment plan as possible. They never directly went up against the Loom, ensuring their survival and their ability to help as many Deviants and Variants as possible.

The Front Lines
As life truly settled within the boundary, wildlife began to develop with more abundance, encroaching dangerously upon Embrathis. The need for the Outriders arose, an elite guild of warriors dedicated to fighting dangerous monsters and threatening flora or fauna, and maintaining the balance between human kind and nature alike.

Divine Selection & Determination Day
In an unprecedented celebration across Embrathis, the Loom held the first Determination Day, entering the minds of every citizen to bestow the divine magic best suited to them. In addition, two citizens, Ynes Frost and Wulfric Rexanthe, were granted immortality and appointed to serve eternally upon the Council. While celebrated as one of humanity's greatest blessings, the Loom's examination of every mind also exposed much of the secret rebellion, devastating the Unwound.

Outwitting the Loom
Determined to survive and endure, the rebellion developed a potion to increase their mental fortitude, allowing them to not only resist the Loom's dissection, but do so undetected, hiding their status as detoxed rebels. It is a difficult potion to craft, but rebellion leadership works hard to make it as available as possible to all detoxed Organics and Variants.

The Great Mine Collapse
The Loom, seeking further prosperity for their utopia, encouraged the people to dig deep, deep into the mountains. They dug too deep, reaching the lower half of the boundary sphere. Digging was a mistake. It caused massive collapse across all the mountains, burying mines and exposing shafts and caves never meant to see the light of day - creatures such as the Bone Children found their way to the surface. For decades following, corpse coal became difficult to obtain, and metal came close to being finite in its supply. Though Embrathis recovered, it altered the Marrows forever.

The Discovery of Home Base
When a bonded Organic was captured, their dragon sold out the rebellion in a futile effort to save their bonded. Their headquarters were raided and gutted, leaving the rebellion in shambles, with only a handful of cells left active to continue resisting the treatment plan.

The Unexplained Deaths
Across Embrathis, Deviants and Variants began dying under increasingly mysterious circumstances, many far younger than their already shortened life expectancies. While the public feared that the Treatment was failing, the truth was far more sinister: a hidden cult has begun systematically targeting and murdering suppressed Organic mages. Even the Loom remains unaware of who is responsible for the mounting deaths, or why these individuals have become their targets.
1195 ❄ Determination Day
Cataclysm of Death
What began as an ordinary winter Determination Day became the deadliest tragedy in recent Embrathian history. Amid celebrations across the city's temple courtyards, citizens suddenly began struggling to breathe, collapsing and dying within moments. By the time the catastrophe had ended, 140,000 people had perished, every one of them a Deviant or Variant mage undergoing the Treatment. The cultists are now known to have been responsible, invoking the goddess Sylphae to carry out mass murder.
1195
Sundered Peace
For the first time in Embrathis's recorded history, the city suffered a devastating act of organized violence when a clinic responsible for distributing the Treatment was deliberately attacked. An explosion tore through the facility, leaving civilians trapped in a blazing building while cultists bearing strange runic markings continued their assault within. Rescuers encountered attackers openly expressing their hatred of Organic mages, providing some of the first tangible evidence that the city's mounting tragedies were not merely mysterious disasters, but acts of deliberate violence.

Immortal Sacrifice
Still reeling from the Cataclysm of Death, Embrathis suffered another devastating tragedy when a ritual conducted within a remote farmland barn claimed an additional 70,000 lives, all suppressed Deviant and Variant mages. At the center of the ritual was Angelique de Montclair, the two-hundred-year-old immortal Councilor of Thaumaturgical Regulation, who deliberately sacrificed herself while invoking the mysterious Sylphae. Her death exposed a terrifying connection between mind control and the cult responsible for the ongoing slaughter, leaving Embrathis facing renewed grief, fear, and uncertainty.
