The Basics
Power Onset
While a siphon can detect the presence of organic magic at birth, the manifestation of these abilities varies by race. Deviant humans—bonded & shifters—have their abilities at birth; Typically starting the regimen from then onwards.
Variants can manifest their powers at any point in their life, typically in adulthood, a fate that brands them as exceptionally dangerous and causes them to be viewed with suspicion by those not born with organic magic. Due to such unpredictability, many are pushed into the lower class to work the farmlands—this is especially prevalent amongst variants whose powers have not yet manifested. Legally, Variants may only start taking the suppression regimen once their powers manifest themselves, which further compounds suspicion and prejudice.

How It Works
Suppression
The Treatment does not remove a character's organic magic completely, instead putting it into a dormant state until the treatment regimen is stopped.
Effects of Suppression
- Innate Magic Inaccessibility: Replaces access to organic magic with the ability to access Loom magic during its use.
- Sleep Issues: Insomnia and/or nightmares are frequent occurrences.
- Slightly Numbed Senses: Things won’t be quite as loud, bright, sensitive, etc. as they would otherwise be off the Treatment.
- Progressive Weakening: As users age, they grow weaker and weaker, until eventually succumbing to the Treatment in early middle age. This is believed to be the burden of organic magic killing a person rather than the treatment itself.
- For Bonded: The Treatment regimen can not break the bond or block the ability to bond with a dragon, but it suppresses a bonded's innate breath resistance and ability to conjure draconic features at will.
How & Where to get the treatment
The treatment is a tightly regulated potion recipe that is only legally craftable and mass-distributed by government-licensed clinics, free of charge, throughout all parts of Embrathis. There, organic mages can acquire a month's supply of these doses, often nested in small, sectioned chests. A single dose of the treatment is typically around an ounce of liquid; it is tasteless, odorless, and genuinely indistinguishable from water, except for the faint shimmer it exhibits when held up to direct sunlight.
